Common Grocery Store Foods with Cancer Fighting Properties

The National Cancer Institute figures that a large percentage (roughly 33%) of all deaths from cancer are related to their diets. There are many common items found in grocery stores which contain certain antioxidants that stop damage caused bsy free radicals.

There are many common items found in grocery stores which contain certain antioxidants that stop damage caused by free radicals.There is a wide variety of foods that contain different properties so it is best if you mix it up. These following items have the ability to reduce cancerous growth, or even reduce the size of tumors.

Oranges: Contains the acid lemonene which stimulates the production of cancer killing immune cells. Lemons also contain this substance.

Grapefruit: Like other citrus fruits, grapefruit have monoterpenes which are thought to have the ability to flush carcinogens out of the body.

Red Grapes: Contain powerful antioxidants known as bioflavonoids, which will help prevent the onset of cancer. Grapes also contain a healthy supply of resveratrol which can stop the enzyme that stimulates cancer growth and slows down your immune systems response.

Jalapeno Peppers: Come with the chemical Capsaican, which will stop certain cancer causing substances and especially aid in preventing stomach cancer.

 Avocados: Contain large amounts of glutathione, which is a strong antioxidant that blocks certain fats from being absorbed into the intestines, thereby blocking more free radicals. Avocados are also useful in treating types of liver damage.

Broccoli and Cauliflower: These are great fighting breast cancer as they contain the chemical indole-3-carbinol that converts cancer promoting estrogen into a more protective chemical. They also contain phytochemical sulforaphane which protects against a variety of cancer types.

Carrots: Carrots can reduce a wide range of cancer types owing to the fact that they contain large amounts of beta carotene. Another chemical, falcarinol, is also found in carrots and thought to reduce the risk of cancer altogether.

Garlic: This is great for building your immune systems strength. It contains allium compounds that increase the activity of cancer fighting immune cells and can also indirectly break down cancer causing substances.

Flax: Flax has lignans, and lignans have an antioxidant like effect that stop or slow down cancerous cell growth. Flax is also contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids which also help in preventing heart disease.

Mushrooms: A certain number of mushrooms contain polysaccharides which are strong compounds that strengthen the immune system. These mushrooms also contain a protein called lectin that will attack cancerous cells and stops them from multiplying.

Nuts: Various nuts contain various antioxidants that block the absorption of, and suppresses cancerous cells.

These are just a few of the foods you can easily acquire that contain helpful properties; just be sure to mix it up to get a healthy fill of each helpful compound. Remember your health depends largely on your diet. You are what you eat, so eat healthy!
