Symptoms of Breast Cancer

If you notice any unusual changes in your breast, you have to check if you are experiencing any of these symptoms that could lead to breast cancer. A lump in your breast, sometimes not painful to touch, rounded, hard or soft or anything unusual, it could be a sign of cancer. Notice if your breast is swelling, it could be partly or whole, pain in your nipple, scaling or thickening of the nipple, a discharge from your nipple of yellow or milky liquid, a lump in your underarm, rashes in your breast and any other strange things that you noticed in your breast. All these can be part of the symptoms of breast cancer. 

Treatments

There are different types of treatment for breast cancer. One of the well known treatments is the chemotherapy wherein the cancerous cells are being poisoned through the use of drugs but the good cells in our body can be affected too. There is also a radiation therapy that kills the cancer cells through the use of high radiation. Some also choose neoadjuvant therapy which shrink the cancerous cell or tumor before it is removed. All these therapies have their own risks.

How to Avoid Breast Cancer

The saying "prevention is better than cure" is always true in our health. Here are the things we need to do to avoid having a breast cancer.

  • Eat soy products as studies reveal that soy contains anti cancer nutrients and reduces the risk of having cancer. Soy contains high protein which your body needs to fight cancer cells. Some of the foods that contain soy are soy milk, miso, beans, and tofu.
  • Avoid consumption of alcohols as it increases your estrogen level that increases the growth of tumor especially if you have a regular intake of alcohol. While a moderate drinking of wine can cure cardiovascular disease, it has side effects to all breast cancer patients as it increases the risk of growing cancer cells in the breasts. Even a single glass of alcohol or wine a day can increase the growth of cancer cells. It's better to avoid alcohol than to have a breast cancer.
  • Be conscious with your weight gain. Studies reveal that most people who have breast cancer have overweight and this is also due to the increase of estrogen level when a person gain weight.
  • Include fruits and dark green vegetables in your daily meals. Researchers found out that consumption of fruits like cherries, berries and vegetables like broccoli, spinach, cabbage, tomatoes, and carrots is good for cancer patients. It is advisable to eat the vegetable in half cooked as it can be more nutritious when it is served slightly raw. Actually, raw vegetables or half cooked vegetables have more photochemical that fights cancer cells growth in our body.
